David Aaron Gallery Marks 115 Year Anniversary

Mayfair art gallery David Aaron proudly celebrates 115 years since its founding in 1910 in Isfahan, Iran. What began as a modest gallery in a Persian city has grown into one of the world’s most respected dealers in ancient art and natural history, now centrally located in Mayfair, London.

From Iran to International Prominence

The gallery’s origin can be traced to its early beginnings in Iran under the direction of the Aaron family. Over time, it expanded across the Middle East, eventually establishing a presence in Alexandria, Egypt, before relocating its primary operations to London.

Today, at 25A Berkeley Square, David Aaron continues to honour that lineage. The journey from modest roots to a global reputation is a testament to decades of dedication, scholarship and connoisseurship.

World-Class Offerings in Ancient Art & Natural History

David Aaron specialises in Classical Greek and Roman, Egyptian, Near Eastern and early Islamic antiquities, as well as natural history specimens, including rare dinosaur fossils.

The gallery is known for sourcing museum-quality artifacts that span continents and millennia. Examples include ancient jewellery, ceramics, sculpture, metalwork, and paleontological exhibits such as a Triceratops skull displayed in its Mayfair showrooms.

Over the years, the gallery has worked with major institutions, helping to place pieces in museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the J. Paul Getty Museum, Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Aga Khan Museum and many more.

International Presence & Ethical Standards

The gallery regularly exhibits at highly vetted international art fairs such as TEFAF, Frieze Masters, Frieze Seoul, and Fine Art Asia.

These platforms allow David Aaron to engage collectors, museums, and scholars worldwide. The gallery is committed to the highest ethical standards, conducting rigorous due diligence and vetting, and is a member of respected professional bodies in the art world.

Reflections on 115 Years

“This anniversary is more than a milestone,” says Salomon Aaron, director. “It is a moment to reflect on our heritage, our responsibilities, and our continued mission to preserve and share extraordinary works of history.”

The gallery plans to host a series of events – private viewings, expert talks, and special exhibitions – paying tribute to its origins while looking to the future.

As it enters its second century plus a decade, David Aaron aims to deepen its role as both dealer and educator.

It will continue collaborating with museums and collectors, expanding its research, and presenting exceptional exhibitions that bridge past and present.

In an era when art and heritage face global challenges, the gallery sees renewed purpose in safeguarding the ancient world for future generations.
