Hospital Fires Worker After Shocking Social Media Post on Charlie Kirk

Hospital Confirms Contract Termination

A hospital in Virginia has dismissed a healthcare worker after a controversial social media post surfaced about the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. The woman, who worked as an anesthesiologist at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, lost her job following remarks that the hospital described as “highly inappropriate” and supportive of violence.

The hospital stated that North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA), a medical group providing anesthesiology services, employed the worker through a contract. The hospital said it became aware of the post on Thursday morning and acted quickly. By mid-morning on September 11, her contract with NAPA was officially terminated.

The statement clarified that Riverside Health no longer affiliates with the individual. The hospital emphasized that the behavior does not align with its values and that it took immediate action once it discovered the comments.

Social Media Reactions Spark Job Losses

The firing comes amid growing fallout over reactions online to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, who was widely known for his political commentary. Several employees across different industries have faced suspensions or dismissals for comments seen as supporting or encouraging violence.

In this case, the anesthesiologist’s comments spread quickly online and drew significant attention. Screenshots of the post circulated on social media, leading to strong criticism and calls for accountability. Healthcare organizations, which depend heavily on public trust, often feel pressure to respond decisively when employees make statements that others could view as promoting harm.

Riverside Health said it acted quickly to protect the hospital’s reputation. It also wanted to reassure patients and the community. The hospital confirmed the post broke its rules for professional conduct. It added that this was serious because healthcare work is very sensitive.

Restaurant Also Caught in Fallout

The controversy extended beyond the hospital setting. A restaurant in Cincinnati also came under fire after a co-owner wrote negative comments online about Charlie Kirk following news of his death. The post, which dismissed expressions of sympathy for Kirk’s family, was widely shared across social platforms before being deleted.

The backlash was immediate. Several of the restaurant’s business partners and suppliers announced that they were cutting ties with the establishment. Soon after, the restaurant itself confirmed it had parted ways with the co-owner to limit further damage.

This incident highlights how online reactions can carry serious real-world consequences. In both cases, the social media activity of individuals led to professional consequences, with employers distancing themselves from remarks perceived as offensive or harmful.
