Trump explodes at Harris over ‘closest election’ remark — calls her ‘dumb as a rock

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is once again at the center of a political storm. While promoting her memoir 107 Days, she described the 2024 U.S.

Trump Hits Back at Harris’ Election Remarks

Presidential Election as “the closest Presidential Election in the 21st century.” Her comments quickly drew a fiery reaction from President Donald Trump, who called her “DUMB AS A ROCK” in a Truth Social post.

Trump rejected Harris’ claim outright and insisted that he won the 2024 election by what he described as a “landslide.” He argued that Harris was spreading lies by repeating that the contest was the closest race of the century. “Kamala Harris, who is DUMB AS A ROCK, is going around and using, as a standard part of her Speech on why she lost the Election, that 2024 was the ‘closest Presidential Election in the 21st Century.’ Everyone knows this is a lie and was covered as such by Fox News!” Trump wrote.

The U.S. President emphasized that he had secured swing states such as Arizona and Michigan, despite facing what he called a “RIGGED” mail-in ballot system in California. Trump also pointed out that he won the Electoral College by 312 votes to 226 and claimed that he secured the popular vote by “millions.”

Trump Demands Apology

In his online remarks, Trump not only attacked Harris’ comments but also demanded a public apology. He compared his win to George W. Bush’s 2000 victory, which was decided by a narrow margin of just 537 votes in Florida. By contrast, Trump stressed that his margin was far wider and did not match the description of being the “closest” election.

“Kamala Harris should apologize to the American people. I won the Electoral College by a huge margin, and I won the popular vote by millions. It was a decisive win, not a close one,” Trump declared.

His sharp response highlighted his ongoing narrative that mail-in voting systems were “rigged” against him, particularly in states like California. This claim has been a recurring theme in his speeches and online posts since his victory. Trump supporters have often echoed these claims, while critics have dismissed them as unfounded.

The President also attempted to frame Harris’ statement as part of what he sees as a larger effort to delegitimize his 2024 win. By calling her “DUMB AS A ROCK,” Trump once again leaned on the kind of personal insults that have become a hallmark of his political style.

Harris Defends Her Statement During Book Tour

Kamala Harris, meanwhile, has stood by her remarks during her book tour. While promoting 107 Days, she explained the difficulties she faced when she entered the 2024 race. According to Harris, President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the campaign in July 2024 left her with just over three months to challenge Trump.

“Biden decides not to run. The sitting vice president then takes the mantle, running against a former president of the United States who had been running for ten years, with 107 days until the election,” Harris told ABC News.

She argued that these structural disadvantages weakened her chances and created what she saw as one of the tightest races in modern political history. Harris repeated that her campaign had little time to prepare. She also said it was hard to face Trump’s years-long campaign infrastructure.

Harris also expressed regret for not voicing her concerns earlier about Biden running for a second term. Many Americans at the time, she said, believed Biden was too old to continue in office. She noted that this hesitation on her part may have cost her valuable preparation time before the 2024 contest.

Despite Trump’s harsh words, Harris has continued to use the phrase “closest presidential race in the 21st century” as part of her reflections on the election. Her memoir has detailed her perspective of the campaign, including the challenges of stepping into the role with such little time before the election.

Trump’s reaction, however, underscores how bitter and contested the debate over the 2024 election still remains. His insistence that he won “by a landslide” directly clashes with Harris’ narrative of a close race, keeping the election results a continuing flashpoint in American politics.
