As per the reports from Al Jazeera, a massive new release of documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein has triggered political reactions across several countries. The newly released records from the US Justice Department contain vast amounts of emails, messages, schedules, and financial documents that reveal Epstein’s interactions with influential individuals, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as figures across Australia, the UK, Norway, and Slovakia.
According to Al Jazeera, Epstein was sentenced in 2008 for criminal sexual conduct and was arrested again in 2019 on charges involving the trafficking of minors. He died in a New York detention facility before his case could go to court. Although being named in these files does not mean a person has committed a crime, the disclosures have led to public denials, political pressure, and resignations in multiple countries.
India: Business and Political Connections
The documents show that Indian industrialist Anil Ambani remained in contact with Epstein even after his 2008 conviction. Messages from March 2017 indicate that Ambani asked Epstein to help him connect with senior officials in then US President Donald Trump’s administration, including Jared Kushner and Steve Bannon. He also requested guidance about arranging a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Trump.
Further messages show Epstein discussing Modi’s foreign travel plans, including a visit to Israel. In one exchange, Epstein suggested that Modi’s actions were favourable to US interests. After India’s 2019 election, Epstein again offered to link Modi with Bannon, telling Bannon that Modi’s envoy had reached out and describing the election result as a major victory. Epstein later suggested to Ambani that Modi might welcome a meeting with Bannon, and Ambani agreed.

Another Indian name in the files is Hardeep Singh Puri, who exchanged emails with Epstein in 2014. Their conversations focused on arranging travel to India and promoting investment opportunities. The Indian government rejected the claims. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the references were unreliable and came from a convicted criminal. Congress Party leader KC Venugopal described the disclosures as disturbing and called for accountability.
Australia and the United Kingdom: Meetings and Political Consequences
In Australia, former prime minister Kevin Rudd was listed on Epstein’s calendar for a meeting in June 2014. Epstein’s internal emails show preparations for the visit, including meal arrangements. Rudd, who now serves as Australia’s ambassador to the United States, denied meeting Epstein or having any personal connection with him.

In the UK, politician Peter Mandelson stepped down from the Labour Party after new details emerged. Financial records show Epstein transferred a total of $75,000 to Mandelson in three payments during the early 2000s. The emails also show Mandelson discussing opposition to Kevin Rudd’s mining tax proposal with Epstein.
Norway and Slovakia: Royal and Government Repercussions
In Norway, the files reveal long-standing email exchanges between Epstein and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. The messages included friendly language, with Epstein described as “soft hearted” and “very charming,” and were signed with “Love.” Her name appears frequently throughout the documents. She is married to Crown Prince Haakon.
These disclosures come at a difficult time, as her son, Marius Borg Hoiby, is facing trial on multiple serious charges, including physical assault.

In Slovakia, national security adviser Miroslav Lajcak resigned after photos and messages showing his contact with Epstein were released. The documents include text conversations from 2018 that referenced women. Prime Minister Robert Fico accepted the resignation, acknowledging Lajcak’s experience while noting that he had denied the allegations.
The documents also mention US figures such as Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk, though no direct statements from them appear in the released records.
