NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell launches a formal review of Steve Tisch after name appears in Epstein files

The New York Giants have been valued at a massive $10.8 billion, bringing fresh attention to one of the NFL’s most iconic franchises. The figure surfaced as co-owner Steve Tisch and his siblings move ahead with a plan to transfer their ownership stake into family trusts.

According to details from an internal NFL memo, Steve Tisch, along with Jonathan Tisch and Laurie Tisch, is seeking to transfer their combined 23.1% stake in the team to their children. This proposed move highlights not only a major ownership shift but also the enormous financial worth of the franchise.

At the same time, the situation has gained added attention after Steve Tisch’s name appeared in documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation released earlier this year.

Equity Transfer Plan Highlights Giants’ Massive Worth

The proposed transfer of the Tisch family’s 23.1% ownership stake places the Giants’ total valuation at $10.8 billion. This means their portion alone is estimated to be worth about $2.5 billion.

The move is structured as a transfer into children’s trusts, a step often used for estate planning and long-term wealth management. The NFL memo also indicated that once the process is complete, the current owners involved in the transfer would no longer hold direct ownership in the franchise.

This valuation places the Giants among the most valuable sports teams globally. It also aligns with recent high-value transactions in the NFL. For example, Stephen Ross, owner of the Miami Dolphins, recently sold a 1% stake in his team to billionaire entrepreneur Lin Bin, based on a record valuation of $12.5 billion.

In another transaction, Julia Koch, a board member associated with Koch Industries, purchased a 10% stake in the Giants in October 2025. That deal valued the team at $10.3 billion, slightly lower than the latest figure.

These numbers show how rapidly team valuations are increasing in the NFL, driven by strong revenues, global popularity, and long-term investment potential.

Steve Tisch Named in Epstein Document Release

The ownership transfer comes at a time when Steve Tisch is also facing public attention due to his name appearing in files linked to Jeffrey Epstein. These documents were released by the U.S. Justice Department and include millions of records.

Reports indicate that Steve Tisch’s name appeared multiple times, including in email exchanges from April and June 2013. Some of these communications reportedly involved discussions about women, along with topics like movies, investments, and philanthropy.

In a statement issued earlier, Steve Tisch acknowledged a brief association with Jeffrey Epstein but strongly denied any deeper involvement. He stated that he never visited Epstein’s private island and did not accept invitations extended to him.

He also expressed regret over the association, describing Epstein as a deeply troubling individual in hindsight.

It remains unclear whether the timing of the ownership transfer is connected in any way to the release of these documents.

NFL Review Under Roger Goodell Begins

Following the release of the documents, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed that the league would review the situation involving Steve Tisch. Speaking during Super Bowl week in San Jose, California, Roger Goodell stated that the league would carefully examine all available facts.

He explained that the review would focus on understanding the context of the communications and determining whether they fall under the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

The league has emphasized that the process will be thorough and handled step by step. At this stage, no conclusions have been announced, and the review remains ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Tisch family’s equity transfer proposal continues as a separate matter. The move represents a significant ownership change while also highlighting the extraordinary financial value of the New York Giants franchise.
