Virat Kohli Struggles Again Against Bangladesh

Virat Kohli is also struggling in test cricket. In the first test played against Bangladesh, he was really struggling. Two scores of 6 and 17 have raised questions about his form. Kohli’s performance in this year is really below his standards.

He is not the first problem of this game. So far in 15 innings this year, he has scored only 319 runs. With that his average has also come down to alarming 18.76. He has managed only one half-century in this period, which is in stark contrast with what he had been doing so far.

Poor dismissals raise eyebrows

Kohli’s dismissals in the Test match have been much highlighted. He chases a wide delivery from Hasan Mahmud in the first innings. From the very dismissal, it was witnessed how Kohli becomes an easy prey once he fails to identify the line.

He dismissed a contentious leg-before-wicket call in the second innings. Kohli chose not to review the call. When Ultraedge later displayed on the monitor that he had indeed hit the ball, one wondered what could have been if he had not opted for a review.

These are the type of dismissals that have become a theme this year. At various points, many fans and analysts have expressed their concerns over his choice-making. Kohli’s chasing deliveries outside off stump has been that type of dismissal. That pattern contributed significantly to his poor average.

Ravi Shastri on Kohli’s Form

Former India coach Ravi Shastri has seen recent woes of skipper Kohli in the light of his relative unavailability to face the spinners more than in the past few seasons. “He needs to change his game”, emphasized Shastri. “Use your feet more, get to the pitch of the ball and use the sweep shot,” he advised.

Shastri feels Kohli needs not to be fearful of hitting the spinners. He said Kohli has to disjoint their rhythm with his over-the-top shot, as it happened with him during the time he was able to score well.

Shastri also referred to the difficult Indian pitches that India has faced. He agreed that these tracks were never easy for any batsman and it might be the reason with Kohli’s inability to perform.

The Road Ahead for Virat Kohli

As far as Kohli is concerned, some amount of pressure is bound to be there considering his performance. If India needs to seal its deal, Kohli’s form has to improve. Fans and experts alike are trying to see if he can bounce back.

Kohli has not had the best of history when it comes to winning or even putting up a good fight. His ability to evolve and enhance his skills have been his lifeline throughout his career. Good assistance from his coaches and teammates could get him back to normal.

Money Laundering through Sports is rampant

It will depend on the games to come whether Kohli stays back. He needs to find his way to scoring consistently. His side will look up to him to hold the fort of the batting order in the games to come.

Simply put, Virat Kohli is the one to be concerned about his recent form. Disappointing dismissals against Bangladesh prove that there are still some issues in his game. The words by Ravi Shastri will perhaps make him iron out all those problems. There will be still focus on this cricket icon as he tries to improve these issues.
