Listed bonds are admitted to trading on BSE or NSE and must follow SEBI's disclosure rules; unlisted bonds are not traded on an exchange and carry fewer disclosure obligations.
Listed issuers must publish results, rating changes and any delay in payment, and appoint a debenture trustee. Prices of listed bonds are visible on the exchanges. Unlisted bonds can be harder to value and to sell.
Tax treatment can also differ, for example in how capital gains are taxed. Check the rules for the year you sell.
