Maxwell Transferred to Lower-Security Prison in Texas
According to the U.S. Maxwell was sent from FCI Tallahassee to the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, by the Bureau of Prisons. This shift happened just days after she had a meeting with a high-ranking official from the Department of Justice. That official reportedly wanted to ask Maxwell about others who might have been involved in the crimes.
The new prison camp in Texas is a much less strict facility. Unlike the Florida prison, which has fences and more guards, the Texas prison camp has little or no fencing and fewer staff. These prison camps are used for inmates who are not seen as dangerous or at high risk of escaping.
A spokesperson from the Bureau of Prisons said the agency decides where inmates go based on how much security they need. However, they did not give specific reasons for Maxwell’s transfer. Her lawyer confirmed the move but gave no further comment.
Talks with DOJ Raise Questions — No Comment from Officials
The timing of the transfer has raised questions. Maxwell’s move came right after her meeting with the Deputy Attorney General. Although no details of the meeting have been made public, it is believed that the official wanted to talk to her about who else might have been involved in the past crimes.
There has been no official statement from the Department of Justice about what was discussed in the meeting. Maxwell’s legal team also did not share much, except to confirm that the meeting took place.
