Computex Buzzes as Nvidia Unveils NVLink Fusion to Fuel Next AI Supercomputers

Nvidia, a giant in the world of computer technology, has announced a new plan involving its advanced NVLink Fusion technology that could change how fast and smart computers become, especially for artificial intelligence (AI). The company revealed this at a big technology event held at the Taipei Music Center, during a show where many tech experts gather to share new ideas and products. This event, called Computex, runs from May 20 to May 23 and is one of the biggest in Asia.

What Nvidia Is Offering: Faster Communication Between AI Chips

Nvidia introduced a new version of a special technology called NVLink Fusion. This technology helps computer chips talk to each other much faster than before. Imagine if you have several friends working together on a project, and they can share ideas quickly by talking all at once instead of waiting in a long line—that’s what NVLink Fusion does for chips.

Chips inside computers are like tiny brains. For AI, many chips work together to solve complicated problems or learn new things. But for these chips to work well as a team, they need to share information super fast. Nvidia’s new NVLink Fusion tech will be sold to other companies who make chips, allowing them to build stronger, faster AI systems by linking multiple chips smoothly.

Some big companies that make chips, like Marvell Technology and MediaTek, have already said they will use this new NVLink Fusion technology in their own custom chips. This means they want to make powerful AI devices that can do lots of tasks quickly.

The Journey of Nvidia and Its Chips

Nvidia has been working on ways to help chips communicate for many years. Their earlier technology, called NVLink, already helped chips send huge amounts of data to each other. This technology is used in some of Nvidia’s powerful products, such as the GB200, which combines different chips, including special graphics chips and processors designed by Nvidia.

In the past, Nvidia was mostly known for making graphics chips used in video games. But times have changed. Now, Nvidia’s chips are not only about making games look good—they are at the heart of the booming AI industry. Since the launch of popular AI tools in 2022, Nvidia has become a leader in making the chips that run these smart programs.

During the big tech event, the company talked about how it has grown beyond gaming. The focus has shifted to designing chips and software that power AI, helping computers learn and think better.

New Chips and Products for AI Researchers and Developers

Along with the new NVLink Fusion technology, Nvidia also shared news about its latest chips and products for AI work. For example, Nvidia plans to release a desktop computer called DGX Spark, designed especially for AI researchers. This computer is built to handle complex AI tasks and is already being produced, with plans to be ready very soon.

Nvidia also announced upcoming new generations of AI chips. One of these is called Blackwell Ultra, which will be available later this year. Looking further ahead, Nvidia has plans for even more advanced chips, like the Rubin and Feynman processors, expected to come in the future.

All these developments show how Nvidia is pushing the boundaries of AI technology. Their chips and communication tools like NVLink Fusion are helping create faster, smarter machines that can handle the growing demands of AI applications around the world.
