FBI Raids Leader of Gay Furry Hacking Group Behind Project 2025 Cyberattack

The FBI has raided the home of the leader of a disbanded hacking group. The group, called SiegedSec, was known for cyberattacks on government sites and conservative groups. One of their biggest hacks was in July 2024. They leaked data from the Heritage Foundation, the group behind Project 2025.

The FBI Cracks Down on Notorious Hacking Group

Project 2025 is a political plan aiming to reshape the U.S. government. It could heavily impact LGBTQ+ rights, women’s rights, and minority protections. SiegedSec, a group of self-identified “gay furry hackers,” targeted the Heritage Foundation. They claimed to expose its internal data. The organization denied this, saying the leaked data was old and already public.

News of the FBI raid surfaced after a former SiegedSec member, “mewmrrpmeow,” posted about it on social media. They wrote that their former leader, “vio,” had been raided and was no longer reachable. Friends and associates confirmed vio’s encrypted messaging account had stopped working.

SiegedSec’s History of High-Profile Hacks

SiegedSec first gained attention in 2023. They launched cyberattacks against state and local governments in Nebraska, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Texas. These attacks protested anti-trans laws in those states. Government websites were shut down temporarily.

In November 2023, SiegedSec hacked the Idaho National Laboratory. This government site researches nuclear energy. The group made a strange demand. They said they would remove the leaked data if the lab researched creating “catgirls”—a reference to a popular internet meme. While the demand seemed like a joke, the attack was serious.

The July 2024 attack on the Heritage Foundation was another major move. SiegedSec claimed they wanted to expose what they called an “authoritarian Christian nationalist plan.” Their attack got attention from people opposing Project 2025 and It also drew the interest of law enforcement.

FBI Investigation and Possible Charges

The FBI has not officially confirmed details of the raid. However, reports suggest they are investigating SiegedSec’s past actions. The Idaho National Laboratory hack may be the biggest concern. Since it involved a government facility, it could be seen as a serious crime. If classified as terrorism or espionage, vio could face life in prison.

There is no confirmation of vio’s arrest or formal charges yet. But the sudden disappearance of their online presence suggests that FBI is moving forward. This case shows that hacking, even for activism, can have serious consequences. As the investigation continues, many are watching to see what happens next.

The raid on the leader of SiegedSec serves as a stark reminder that hacking—even for political activism—can have serious legal consequences. As the story develops, many are left wondering what impact this will have on future cyber activism and the growing tensions between political movements and digital resistance groups.
